President Donald Trump has pardoned Anthony Levandowski, the previous Google engineer sentenced to prison for thieving trade tricks relating to driverless cars from the research huge.
On Wednesday, Levandowksi was between dozens of individuals who received a comprehensive pardon from Trump on his final evening in the White Home.
The White Home listed tech billionaire Peter Thiel and Oculus founder Palmer Luckey as supporters of Levandowski’s pardon. Thiel was a big supporter and advisor for the 2016 campaign, but did not back Trump’s reelection effort and hard work. Luckey hosted a fundraiser for Trump just months in advance of the 2020 election.
In August, Levandowski was sentenced to 18 months in jail for thieving trade techniques. He transferred thousands of documents from Google before leaving the corporation. He went on to uncovered a commence-up identified as Otto which was obtained by Uber.
Google’s self-driving auto device Waymo then accused Uber of using those trade tricks in its driverless vehicle technological know-how, which Uber denied. In 2018, Uber and Waymo settled their lawful dispute. But Levandowski, who was fired from Uber in 2017, experienced to encounter criminal rates.
